Why It’s Still So Quiet Out There

In “The Eerie Silence,” Paul Davies, chair of the SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) Post-Detection Task Force, explores why radio astronomers, despite being tuned in to signals from extra-terrestrial life forms for the past 50 years, haven’t heard anything yet.

Is it because there’s no one out there? Or, is it because we’re not being been able to hear them?
