A Sweet Financier

You’d have to be a person of an unusual bent or be obsessed with finance to think of naming a patisserie, “Financier.” But it turns out that “Financier” isn’t such an out-of-the-way name for a bakery, after all.

A pastry of French origin, it’s a soft, moist, almond cake, flavored by beurre noisette (French for brown butter) that’s baked in the shape of a gold bar.
