The “Christmas Spectacular,” a seasonal production held every year since 1933 at the Radio City Music Hall, has become synonymous with the Rockettes. The Rockettes, in turn, have become synonymous with their trademark routine: the “eye-high kicks.”

We made the trek in the biting cold to see the legendary show. A 90-minute musical trip into wonderland, it’s resplendent, magical, dazzling, and indeed, spectacular. “The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” is one of the show’s original numbers from 1933, and the design of the costumes worn by the toy soldiers hasn’t changed since that year.
