In this advertisement for Galaxy milk chocolate, you notice the young, slender, feline-eyed Audrey Hepburn daintily take out a bar of candy from her purse. Instinctively, you think that it’s a footage from “Roman Holiday” (1953).
But it isn’t. This is a computer-generated replica of the British actress, recreated by a production company called Framestore. The 3D model was then plugged into a shot of Italy’s picturesque Amalfi Coast.
How would the flesh-and-blood actress have reacted to her digital doppelganger were she around to witness it? She’d have been happy to learn that she’d gained digital immortality. She once said: “Nothing is impossible, the word itself, says, ‘I’m possible’!”
