Today, May 29, 2014, is Manhattanhenge: one of two days this year—the other being July 12—when the setting Sun aligns with the Manhattan street grid, creating a radiant glow of light across its brick and steel canyons, explains Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium.

The word “Manhattanhenge” was popularized by him.
