Op-Eds, In Broad Brush Strokes

Nicholas Blechman, the art director of the New York Times literary supplement, the New York Times Book Review, does a delightful series, “Food Chains.” These are op-ed pieces, presented through broad brush strokes, literally.

“Code Name Parmigiano” is a behind-the-scenes look at how parmesan cheese is produced.

“Extra-Virgin Suicide” focuses on the adulteration of Italian olive oil. The kicker is that Italy is the largest exporter—not importer—of olive oil.
