Lithium Is “The New Gasoline”

There’s a worldwide scramble by battery producers and battery consumers alike, to secure supplies of lithium—the element that’s a vital component of batteries that power everything from cars to smartphones.

That has made it the world’s hottest commodity. Goldman Sachs, an investment bank, calls lithium “the new gasoline.”
